The update model, explained

Pay for updates only while you want them.

You are buying software, not access. The update contract is a subscription to new releases, and your licence does not depend on it.

Day 0 — you buy (planned) €249Licence key by e-mail. Install on up to 3 devices. You own v1.14.2 and the next 12 months of feature releases.
Updates active €79 / yrEvery feature release lands automatically: v1.15, v1.16, v2.0…
You stop paying contract lapsesNo lock-out, no nag screen. Your installs keep working.
You keep the software perpetual fallbackThe last version released during your contract, incl. its point-release fixes. Renew any time to jump forward — no back-payment.

Why not just a subscription?

Because a subscription makes your tools disappear the month you stop paying. Analysts build years of layouts, scripts and habits — that work should stay usable.

Why not just lifetime?

Pine changes, exchanges change APIs, operating systems change. The update contract funds that maintenance for the people who want it, without forcing it on those who don't.

Coming back later?

Renew at any time for €79 and jump straight to the current release. No back-payment for the years you skipped.

Owning vs renting

What you keep.

A hosted platform bills you for access to a server that renders your charts and stores your scripts. IndicatorSmith has no such server — your laptop does the rendering, your exchange delivers the data, and the recurring cost is engineering. That is what the planned €79 update contract pays for.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is the first year of updates included in the €249?
Yes — €249 buys the perpetual licence plus the first 12 months of feature releases. After that the update contract is optional at €79/yr. Let it lapse and you keep the last version released during your active period, forever.
What exactly do I keep if my update contract lapses?
The last feature release that shipped while your contract was active, plus its point releases. If your contract ended during v1.16.x, you keep v1.16 and receive 1.16.1, 1.16.2 and so on. You do not receive v1.17.
Is the porting agent gated behind a tier, or metered?
Neither. Both tiers get the agent and all three standing instructions — the conversion queue, the symbol watch and the research loop — with the full activity log and the pause / resume / undo / stop controls. It runs inside the engine on your own machine, so there is no per-message meter and nothing to bill. The update contract only decides whether you get new standing instructions as they ship, or stay on the ones your version came with.
Can the agent trade, or reach my exchange keys?
No, on both tiers and by design. It converts scripts, plots indicators, arms alerts you can see, runs backtests and writes to its own log — nothing else. It refuses leverage multiples out loud, and sizing in the backtest stays quarter Kelly (0.25) inside a 7.5 % per-asset ceiling with 4 bps fees, 20 bps slippage and a −20 % drawdown halt.
Can I move my licence to a new computer?
Yes. Three activations are included; deactivate a device in the account portal and activate the new one. Company-wide or 5+ seat licences: e-mail us for volume pricing.
Do you offer refunds?
14 days, no questions, as long as the licence has been activated on fewer than 3 devices. Update contracts are refundable pro rata within the first 30 days of a renewal. See Refunds.
Is there a monthly option?
Not for the software itself — that would be a subscription, which is the thing we are trying to replace. If €249 is a stretch, the demo is free and the free Yahoo Finance feed works with the full licence.
Is there a data fee?
No. IndicatorSmith is bring-your-own-keys: market data comes from your own exchange or broker keys, or the free Yahoo Finance feed and CSV import. We never redistribute exchange data, so there is nothing to charge for.
