Terms, privacy, risk & refunds
IndicatorSmith is operated by Mast. Company details will be published here. IndicatorSmith is not on sale yet, so the licence, purchase and refund terms below describe the planned terms.
Terms of service
1. What you are buying
A IndicatorSmith licence is a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the IndicatorSmith software and engine on up to three (3) devices you control, for the version current at purchase, all point releases of that version, and every feature release published during the first twelve (12) months after purchase. It is a licence to software, not a subscription to a service.
2. Update contract
The optional update contract entitles you, while active, to every feature release we publish. When it ends, your entitlement is fixed at the last feature release published during the contract, plus its point releases. We never disable software because a contract has ended.
3. Permitted use
Personal and professional use, including use within a trading business on the licensed devices. You may modify converted or custom indicators freely; they are your files. You may not redistribute the IndicatorSmith software, resell licence keys, or circumvent activation.
4. Your content
Scripts, layouts, drawings and data you create or import remain yours. We do not receive them and claim no rights over them.
5. Availability and support
The software runs locally and does not depend on our servers except for activation and optional update checks. If we cease operations, we commit to publishing an activation-free build within 90 days. Support is by e-mail; response targets are one business day for active update-contract holders and best effort otherwise.
6. Warranty and liability
The software is provided "as is". We warrant that it will perform substantially as documented for 90 days from purchase; your remedy is repair, replacement or refund. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months preceding a claim. We are not liable for trading losses under any circumstances (see Risk disclaimer).
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Consumers retain any mandatory protections of their country of residence.

What we do not collect
Your scripts, layouts, drawings, alerts, watchlists, symbols viewed, exchange or broker API keys, or market data. The software has no telemetry beyond the version check, which you can disable.
Processors
Payments: a merchant of record that handles VAT. E-mail delivery: a transactional e-mail provider. Hosting for the licence server: an EU-region cloud provider. No advertising networks.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure and portability under GDPR. E-mail privacy@indicatorsmith.com. Erasure requests are honoured within 30 days except for invoice records we must keep by law.
Risk disclaimer
IndicatorSmith is software, not advice
IndicatorSmith displays market data and computes indicators, including indicators you convert from Pine Script or write yourself. Nothing produced by the software — a signal, an alert, a backtest result — is a recommendation to buy or sell anything. We are not a broker, investment adviser or financial institution and are not licensed as such in any jurisdiction.
Backtests
Backtest results shown in the software and on this website are hypothetical. They are computed on historical or sample data, assume fills that may not have been available, and cannot account for all market conditions. Converted strategies may behave differently from their Pine Script originals; we provide verification tools and urge you to use them. The demo uses sample data throughout.
Our editorial stance
We do not promote leverage, very short-term high-churn trading or any specific return target. Where our materials discuss risk management, they describe conservative practices — modest position sizing, drawdown limits, kill switches — as defaults worth considering, not as guarantees of any outcome.
Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your trading decisions, for verifying any indicator or strategy before relying on it, and for complying with the laws and regulations that apply to you.
Data licensing & BYOK
Bring your own keys
IndicatorSmith does not sell, redistribute or proxy market data. All market data enters the software through connections you establish with your own exchange, broker or data-vendor accounts ("BYOK"), or through files you import. You are responsible for complying with the terms of those providers, including any restrictions on use, display or storage of their data.
How keys are handled
- Keys are stored only on the device where you enter them, encrypted with the operating system keychain
- The engine reads keys at runtime to request data; the UI, the licence server and the account portal never receive them
- We recommend read-only keys; IndicatorSmith never requires trade or withdrawal permissions
- Deleting a provider in the app deletes the key from the keychain
Local cache
Historical bars retrieved via your keys are cached on your device for performance. The cache is your copy of data licensed to you by your provider; do not redistribute it unless your provider allows it.
Free public sources
The Yahoo Finance daily feed and any public REST endpoints are accessed under those services' public terms. Availability is not guaranteed by us.
Refund policy
Software licences
Request a refund within 14 days of purchase by e-mailing hello@indicatorsmith.com from the purchase address with your order number. Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 10 business days; the licence key is deactivated. The three-activation condition exists because a licence fully activated on three devices is a licence in use, not one being evaluated — and because the demo and guest mode already allow unlimited evaluation.
Update contracts
New and renewed update contracts are refundable pro rata within 30 days of the charge. After 30 days they are non-refundable but can be cancelled to prevent the next renewal; you keep everything delivered so far.
Statutory rights
Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer, including EU distance-selling rights, which in some cases exceed this policy.
